Boat CareReviews

About this site

Boat Care Reviews helps boat owners and detailers pick cleaning and protection products without wading through marketing copy.

I run a boat detailing business in Southwest Florida and on the North Coast of Ohio. I have spent every year of my life around boats and taking care of them. More about this site

I started this site because most product reviews read like ads. Here, every recommendation gets a plain answer at the top and a clear reason behind it.

How the reviews are made

Drafts are written with the help of AI, then read and corrected by a person who details boats before they are published. Anything that could not be confirmed is removed.

How products are picked

Every product on this site is labeled. Tested means it is backed by independent testing from the last five years, such as the tests run by Practical Sailor, with the source shown. Tested by us means we have used it ourselves on real boats. Owner-recommended means several boat owners recommend it in forum discussions from the last five years, with the source shown. Not yet tested means we list it as an option but have not tested it yet. Older tests are not used, because products change. Single forum posts, manufacturer claims, and shopping roundups are never used as evidence on their own.

Every product shows its label, and independent test dates are shown because products change. Picks are limited to what is sold on Amazon, so a better product that is not sold there may exist.

What every page includes

  • The bottom line comes first. You see the recommendation before the reasoning.
  • Real photos from real jobs. Not stock images.
  • A date on every page. It shows when the advice was last checked.
  • Every product is labeled with how it was tested.
  • Affiliate links are labeled. The disclosure explains how the site earns money.

How the site earns money

Some links go to Amazon. If you buy after clicking, the site earns a small commission and your price stays the same. Read the full disclosure.
